Filing in Arkansas: what's different
The rules that most often change an Arkansas return, checked against Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) guidance on 27 October 2026.
Five brackets with a 3.9% top rate
For 2025, Arkansas taxes net taxable income at rates from 0% to 3.9%. Income over $26,399 is taxed at 3.9%, and the benefit of the lower brackets shrinks once income passes $94,700.
- 0%$0–$5,599
- 2%$5,600–$11,199
- 3%$11,200–$15,999
- 3.4%$16,000–$26,399
- 3.9%$26,400 and up
DFA's 2025 indexed brackets. The regular tax table has no separate joint thresholds. Over $100,000, tax is $3,809 plus 3.9% of the excess.
Which Arkansas return?
- AR1000F
- Full-year residents who lived in Arkansas, or kept their domicile there, all of 2025.
- AR1000NR
- Part-year residents who received any gross income while an Arkansas resident.
- AR1000NR
- Nonresidents with any gross income from Arkansas sources, whatever the amount.
AR1000NR computes tax on all your income, then applies your Arkansas share of it. Nonresidents' remote work done outside Arkansas isn't taxed by Arkansas.
Key dates for calendar-year filers
Apr 15
Individuals file AR1000F or AR1000NR. Partnerships, S corporations and C corporations file AR1050, AR1100S or AR1100CT, or AR1100PET if they elect the entity-level tax.
May 1
LLCs and corporations file the annual franchise tax report with the Secretary of State. No extensions are allowed.
Oct 15
Extended partnership returns are due, under Form AR1055-PE or a federal extension.
Nov 15
Extended individual returns are due, under a federal extension or Form AR1055-IT.
A due date on a weekend or legal holiday moves to the next business day. Extensions give more time to file, not to pay, so tax is due by April 15.
Built from your federal schedules
AR1000F does not start from federal AGI. It builds Arkansas income line by line, taking business, rental and farm results from your federal Schedules C, E and F.
Franchise tax
LLCs pay $150 a year. Corporations pay 0.3% of their Arkansas capital stock, with a $150 minimum. The report is due to the Secretary of State by May 1, with a $25 late penalty plus interest.
Sales tax
The state rate is 6.5%, and cities and counties add their own. The state rate on food is 0% from January 1, 2026. If you sell taxable goods, we confirm your state and local registrations during scoping.

Accounts or assets outside the US?
US taxpayers with foreign bank accounts, investments or non-US funds can have three separate reporting duties: the FBAR, Form 8938 and Form 8621 for PFICs. Each has its own rules, and filing one doesn't satisfy another.
| FBARFinCEN Form 114 | Form 8938FATCA reporting | PFICForm 8621 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filed with | FinCEN, electronically through the BSA E-Filing System. Not part of your tax return. | The IRS, attached to your income tax return. | The IRS, attached to your income tax return, with a separate form for each PFIC. |
| Who it covers | US persons, including citizens, resident aliens and domestic entities, with foreign financial accounts. | Specified individuals and certain domestic entities with specified foreign financial assets. | US persons who hold shares, directly or indirectly, in a passive foreign investment company. |
| Threshold if you live in the US | Accounts total more than $10,000 at any time in the year. | Single: over $50,000 at year-end or $75,000 at any time. Joint: over $100,000 or $150,000. | No general minimum. A $25,000 exception ($50,000 joint) can apply when there were no distributions, gains or elections to report. |

A PFIC is a foreign corporation with at least 75% passive income or at least 50% passive assets. Many mutual funds and ETFs registered outside the US, including Indian mutual funds, can qualify, so we check each holding. Form 8938 thresholds are higher if you live abroad. Can Savetaxs prepare both my federal and Arkansas returns?
Yes. We prepare federal returns for individuals and businesses together with the matching Arkansas returns: AR1000F or AR1000NR for individuals, and AR1050, AR1100S or AR1100CT, plus the annual franchise tax report, for businesses. Your consultation confirms which returns apply to you.
The work is done online, by video or phone, with documents shared through an encrypted upload.
How do I extend my Arkansas individual return?
If you file a federal extension, Arkansas accepts it and your filing deadline moves to November 15; you check the extension box on your Arkansas return. Without a federal extension, you can request one on Form AR1055-IT before April 15. Either way, the extension covers filing only, so tax due should be paid by April 15 to avoid penalty and interest.
I moved to or from Arkansas this year. Which form do I file?
Part-year residents file AR1000NR. The tax is first computed on all of your income, then multiplied by the share of your income that belongs to Arkansas. Other states may need their own returns, and we map each one during scoping.
Does my single-member LLC file its own Arkansas income tax return?
No. DFA rules require a single-member LLC's income and expenses to be reported on the member's individual return, so it does not file AR1050. The LLC still files the annual franchise tax report with the Arkansas Secretary of State and pays $150 by May 1.
Are Arkansas partnership and S corporation returns due in March, like the federal ones?
No. Arkansas sets April 15 as the due date for calendar-year AR1050 and AR1100S returns, a month after the federal date.
Partnerships, S corporations and LLCs can instead elect the pass-through entity tax and file AR1100PET, also due April 15. For 2025 the entity pays 3.9% on income and 1.95% on capital gains, and members generally leave that income off their own Arkansas returns.
How is pricing determined?
A consultation with a US CPA starts at $59. Filing is priced per return, based on forms and schedules, the number of states, your entity type and the condition of your records. Bookkeeping is priced on monthly volume. You see the fee before you proceed.
I have bank accounts or mutual funds outside the US. What do I need to file?
Possibly one or more of three forms. The FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) applies when your foreign financial accounts total more than $10,000 at any time in the year, and it is filed with FinCEN, not with your tax return. Form 8938 has higher thresholds and is attached to your income tax return. Filing one does not replace the other.
If you own shares in a non-US mutual fund or other passive foreign investment company (PFIC), Form 8621 may also be required for each fund. See our foreign asset reporting service.
