Kara of HUF: In Hindu law, Karta is a term that is used for the head or the leader of an HUF. The Karta has the power to make decisions on behalf of all the family members, and he/she has control over the whole property.
HUF Karta makes decisions for the benefit of the family members, and they represent the HUF in business and legal matters. Karta is responsible for the income they made, and he/she distribute it among all the members of a HUF.
The Karta of HUF is considered the decision maker of the house, and it's his duty to make the best decision for the benefit of the entire family. The duties of Karta include making decisions in matters of business investments, property management, distribution of the assets, and other family matters. Karta also manages the finances of the family, which includes taxes, banking, and investments.
While having all these powers and responsibilities, there is also a certain limit to the powers of the karta. If any family members think that the decision does not benefit the family, then they have a right to question the karta, and they can also challenge the decision made by them. According to the Hindu Succession Act, the HUF Karta does not have the power to sell the property of the family without the consent of adult members.
The eldest family member of the Hindu Undivided Family is considered the Karta; he/she is the leader of the HUF. The role of karta in HUF includes:
