What is E-Nivaran?

E-Nivaran is a digital platform developed by the Income Tax Department of India. It is a unified Grievance Management System designed to help taxpayers register, track, and resolve complaints related to income tax services.

Through this platform, taxpayers can submit grievances regarding different departments such as Assessing Officer (AO), NSDL, UTISL, CPC-ITR, CPC-TDS, and the Income Tax e-filing portal team.

The main purpose of the E-Nivaran portal is to ensure that taxpayer complaints are handled efficiently, transparently, and within a reasonable time frame.

Features of E-Nivaran

The E-Nivaran system provides several features that simplify the grievance resolution process for taxpayers:

  • It provides solutions for taxpayer complaints in a systematic and simplified manner.
  • All complaints registered online or offline are collected in a centralized system, which helps prevent duplication.

Process to Register an Online Complaint

Taxpayers can follow these steps to submit a grievance through the E-Nivaran portal:

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax e-filing website.

Step 2: Click on the E-Nivaran tab available on the portal.

Step 3: Select the option “Submit Grievance.”

Step 4: Click on “PAN or TAN Holder” and enter your PAN or TAN number.

Step 5: If your PAN is not registered on the portal, select “Register with e-filing and continue” to proceed to the registration page.

Step 6: Alternatively, select “No thanks and continue without registering.” You will be redirected to the E-Nivaran grievance form to raise your complaint.

Step 7: Carefully preview and edit the complaint details before submitting the form.

Step 8: Click the Submit button. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID for verification.

Step 9: After OTP verification, a validation success message will appear, and you will have the option to download the complaint PDF.

Step 10: An acknowledgement number will be generated, which can be used to track the status of your grievance on the portal.
