What Is PAN Card Update
The context of a PAN card update refers to either correcting or modifying the personal details printed on the PAN Card. Note: NSDL e-Gov is now known as Protean e-Gov Technologies, and the Protean PAN website is the primary portal for PAN card update online. However, to modify PAN card you can also download the PAN card correction form from the UTIITSL platform.
How To Update The NSDL PAN Card (Protean Portal)
If your PAN card is issued through NSDL-e-Gov, you need to apply on the same portal to update or correct your PAN card details.
The following is the step-by-step process for making NSDL PAN card update online.
1: Start The PAN Correction Online Application
- Step: Go to the Protean PAN website.
- Step: Scroll down to the heading "Change/Correction in PAN Date" and click on "Apply Now".
2: Fill In The Details And Generate Token
- Step: Fill in the online PAN application form. Here's how to fill in the form:
- Application Type: Changes or correction to be made in the existing PAN Data/Reprint of PAN Card.
- Category: Choose the relevant category from the drop-down menu.
- Other Details: Fill in all the personal details such as:
- Title
- Last name/ Surname
- First Name
- Middle Name
- Date of Birth/ Incorporation Date / Formation Date
- Email ID
- Mobile Number
- Citizenship (Indian or not)
- PAN number
- Lastly, type in the "Captcha Code" and tap on "Submit".
- Step: Once the request for changes is registered on the portal, you will receive a Token Number at the email ID provided. Keep this token number safe, as it will be used to access the latest version of the form during a session timeout.
- Click on "Continue With PAN Application Form".
3: Select Submission Mode
- Step: There will be three options displayed to you on the screen, such as:
- Submit digitally through e-KYC & e-Sign (this is a paperless version)
- Submit scanned images through e-Sign
- Forward application documents physically.
- Step: In case you need a new physical copy of the updated PAN card, select yes. A nominal charge will apply.
4: Aadhaar & Correction Details
- Step: For this part, scroll down and enter the last four digits of your Aadhaar Number.
- Step: Scroll down and update all the required details. However, please remember to tick the relevant boxes for which update or correction is needed. Once everything is filed accurately, click "Next".
- Step: You will now be redirected to the "Contact and other details" page. Here, enter the new address and the updated email ID or mobile number, then go to the next page.
- Step: Depending on the particulars you have updated, upload the proof of documents along with a copy of your PAN.
- Step: For the declaration section:
- Mention your name.
- Declare that you are submitting the PAN card form in your own capacity, that is, choose "Herself/Himself".
- Enter the resident's place.
- Step: Scroll down, and attach a copy of your signature and your photograph. However, when attaching, please ensure the files are as per the specification and the specified size. Once the copies are attached, click on Submit.
- Step: You will now see the Form preview. Enter the first 8 digits of your Aadhaar Number here. Furthermore, ensure that all the details entered are correct.
- Step: Once the PAN card correction form is submitted, the payment page will appear. You can execute the payment through different payment gateways. Once the payment is successful, you will receive the payment receipt.
- Step: To complete the PAN update online, click continue. Complete the entire KYC process. Tick the checkbox to accept the terms and conditions, then click "Authenticate".
- Step: The OTP will be generated and sent to your Aadhaar-registered number. Enter the OTP and submit the PAN application form online.
- Step: On the next screen you are directed to, click continue with eSign.
- Step: Accept the terms and conditions by ticking the box. Enter the Aadhaar number, then click "Send OTP".
- Step: You will now receive the Aadhaar-registered mobile number. Enter it and verify. You can download the acknowledgment form. The password to open this file is your DOB in DD/MM/YYY format.
Please note: If you choose to "forward the application documents physically", you will need to print the acknowledgment and send it, along with the required documents, to the following address:

How To Update PAN On UTIITSL Portal?
If you have applied for the PAN card on the UTIITSL website, you are also entitled to update the PAN card details on the UTIITSL website. The following are the steps to update the PAN card via the UTIITSL portal.
- Step: Go to the UTIITSL website.
- Step: Click the "Click to Apply" under the "Change/Correction In PAN Card " tab.
- Step: Click on the "Apply for Change / Correction in PAN card details" tab.
- Step: Now choose the mode of submission of documents, enter the PAN number, pick the PAN card mode, and then click on the "Submit" button.
- Step: You will receive the reference number once your request is successfully registered. Now click on "OK".
- Step: Tick the fields that need updating or correction. Enter the accurate and updated personal details. Now, click "Next Step" once the details are entered.
- Step: The address will be changed as per your Aadhaar Card. Enter the contact details, then click "Next Step".
- Step: Enter the PAN number, verify it, and click the "Submit" button.
- Step: Upload all required documents, then click the "Submit" button.
- Step: Verify all the details you entered on the form, then make the payment.
- Step: Choose the online payment method and complete the payment. Once the payment is successful, a success message will be displayed.
Ensure that you take a printout of the form.
It typically takes 15 days for the PAN card to update online. Furthermore, you will receive a text on the registered mobile number when your PAN card is dispatched via post.
Note: In case you have chosen the "Physical ( Forward application with the documents physically)' option in step 4, you will have to take the printout of the form, affix your signature and photograph, attach all the necessary documents, and post the entire package at any one of the UTIITSL office addresses.

How To Update PAN Card Offline?

- Step: Download the PAN card correction form online.
- Step: Now fill in the entire form with accurate details and submit it to your nearest PAN centre along with the essential documents.
