How to Change PAN Card PDF File Password?

PAN card holders cannot change the originally set password of their PAN card PDF. This is so because the password is system-generated by NSDL or UTIITSL for security purposes. The PAN Card PDF password will always be either your Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format or Date of Incorporation in DDMMYYYY format.

However, instead of changing the password, you can remove or set a new one by creating a new PDF copy. Here's how you can do it:

Method 1: Remove the PAN card PDF Password (Using Print to PDF)

  • Open your PAN card PDF.
  • Enter the current password ( DOB in DDMMYYYY format).
  • Press Ctrl+P (Print option)
  • Select save as PDF as the printer.
  • Click on Save.

The new PAN card PDF will be saved without a password.

Method 2: Set a New Password ( Using Adobe Acrobat).

Open the PAN card PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Enter the current password.

  1. Click on File > Protect Using Password.
  2. Enter your new password
  3. Save the file.

Important Point To Consider

  • The original PAN card PDF password cannot be changed.
